What is the Document Field?

Documents are useful for reports, invoices, contracts e.t.c. With Document Field type, you can customize your document such that it contains specific information like name, address e.t.c. You can use this field type to generate a customized legal Non-Disclosure Agreement between you and a client

How to create a Document Field on a Board

To create a Document field, follow these steps:

STEP 1: Create a document, you can create documents on google docs or Microsoft office.

💡Note that curly brackets({}) are used to connote the fields that will be mapped to fields on your boards.So,when creating document, the field you will love to cutomize should be in curly brackets e.g {Name},{Address} e.t.c 

STEP 2: Create the fields that you have in the curly bracket (in the document) on your board.

STEP 3: Click on the + symbol to the right of the last field header in the Table view.

STEP 4: This pops up a form page, on which you search the Field type to select the Document field.

STEP 5: Input the name and description. Then upload the document and allow it to sync.

STEP 6: Map the fields in the curly brackets to those on your board.

STEP 7: choose the format of your document whether it is PDF or Docx.

STEP 8: Then click on the "create field" button to append the field to the board.

This is a good field to use when you want to attach customized files like invoices and legal documents to your board. Not to worry, your files are completely safe and secure.
